In this class you will learn about the facets of AutoCAD Plant 3D software in Vault software. We will cover the features that Vault software has to offer an AutoCAD Plant 3D project or an AutoCAD P&ID project. Specifically we will look at Replication, Lifecycles, Categories, and Attribute Mapping. We will cover the process of creating a new AutoCAD Plant 3D project or an AutoCAD P&ID project and migrating it to Vault software. Then we will look at the migration of an existing AutoCAD Plant 3D project or an AutoCAD P&ID project to Vault software. We will also examine in detail how to manage Data Manager outputs in Vault software. We will cover the specific rules around utilizing Vault software for your project, and we'll also cover the environmental settings and workflow systems you should consider before attempting your project in Vault software. An AutoCAD Plant 3D project or an AutoCAD P&ID project in Vault software should be an exciting and positive experience for the extended design team. It is a common misconception that AutoCAD software doesn’t see much benefit from running on a workstation with a professional, discrete graphics processing unit (GPU). As a result, many users are not getting the full performance and productivity out of AutoCAD that they could be. In addition, a number of Autodesk® software products that are complementary to AutoCAD and enhance the workflow and results from it, benefit enormously from running on a professional workstation with a professional GPU. In this class, we will look at the model sizes, workflows, and application combinations that have a big impact when running AutoCAD and that show measurable benefits when used with a professional workstation.

This class will cover how Mott MacDonald, working with Autodesk consultancy, have been developing our own VR capability using Autodesk technologies.

This class is aimed at architects and engineers with a BIM background but little or no VR experience. We believe VR can add value to every project type and we will give you an in-depth look at the processes and workflows we have used to create VR experiences for Buildings, Transportation, Energy and Water projects.



We will start with the basics; VR hardware and how to prepare BIM models for VR using Stingray, Revit Live and 3DS Max. Fitting for Las Vegas, we will be 'upping the ante' with live demonstrations so we can share with you the variety ways we have brought our designs to life using video game technology, and how this is all possible without writing a single line of code.

This class will showcase new high-performance building design workflows from Autodesk, Inc., and their applications in the early design stages. We will explain and explore through the case study application current technology and new features in FormIt 360 software and Revit software. This class will cover processes and best practices for using conceptual analysis tools as integrated, iterative, and collaborative parts of the design process from a Design Team’s point of view. It is critical to use performance analysis tools early when aiming for high-performance design goals. New high-performance building design workflows are making analysis tools more accessible and easier to use earlier in the design process than ever before. Analysis tools can go a long way toward informing design decisions, saving time, and improving the usefulness and validity of your design.

With the new tools added to Revit software in the last few years, it has become easier for structural engineers and detailers to create shop drawings and fabrication models for structural components. This class will demonstrate Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows to take a Structural Design Team model into fabrication modeling and shop-drawings production for rebar, precast-concrete, structural-steel, and concrete-lift drawings. Attendees will learn new rebar modeling and annotation features for rebar shop-drawing creation. They will also learn how the new steel-connections tool works in Revit 2017 software and links with Advance Steel software; how to create precast-concrete erection (shop) and piece drawings in Revit software; and how to create detailed concrete-lift drawings in Revit software. We will also demonstrate add-ons that make shop-drawing production more efficient for each structural component type, and we’ll discuss workflows and best practices. One of the less-known special features of Advance Steel software is the ability to use User Scripts to aid and personalize various processes. You can use Advance Steel software scripts in several places, including numbering, object filtering for detailing, filtering for detail processes, and numerical control. In this class we will explore the scripting language and walk through the process of adding/modifying scripts to obtain different results in Advance Steel software details.

Advance Steel software is a powerful detailing and fabrication tool that has helped Steelway Building Systems move to the next level in terms of the complexity and scale of its projects. Beyond the basic functionality of the program, Steelway has also capitalized on the technology as a tool for collaboration and communication. Discover how the firm’s workflows involve interoperability with design software for rapid concept generation in the Building Information Modeling (BIM) environment. This enables collaboration between engineers, detailers, fabricators, and erectors. Ice District is a megaproject going up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The project has 3 main prime architect firms working concurrently on the project (Dialog, Hersch Bedner Associates, and Stantec), and many other consultants all coming together to completely rebuild the city’s epicenter. The project migrated into A360 Collaboration for Revit software, and it has been an interesting journey of technology convincing leadership of all the firms and disciplines that this would be the better way to work on this truly epic project. We will showcase the project, the Revit software components coming together, the types of coordination, tools used, measures taken, Building Information Modeling (BIM) execution plan concepts, and a lot of the power of A360 cloud-based collaboration service. Fundamentally, Dialog was managing the entire parkade of the city blocks beneath the skyscrapers that the other architecture firms were designing. You’ve built a 3D model. Now you need to produce 2D drawings. That is the precise purpose for the new model documentation tools in AutoCAD® software. In this class, I will show you how to create annotated orthographic, section, cutaway, and detail views; control their scale and appearance; and ensure that views and annotations update properly if the 3D model changes. I will work with 3D models that are created in AutoCAD and Autodesk® Inventor® software, and other CAD programs and show you how to solve problems such as disassociated annotations. You will see how you can create several sheets of drawings documenting a multi-part assembly. We will cover each tool in detail and develop best practices and time-saving techniques, so that you can tap into the power of model documentation tools in AutoCAD to create your 2D drawings.

In this class, we will cover the workflows to create a game from your InfraWorks 360 software designs. The workflow will cover exporting your InfraWorks 360 model, harnessing 3ds Max software, and then using Stingray game engine to create the game.
