Cannistraro will offer lessons learned from recent hospital and university projects that featured a wide range of technology-based solutions including point-cloud integration with a fabrication-ready mechanical model.

This class covers using Revit®-based software, BIM 360™ Field, and Navisworks® for the operation, maintenance, and lifecycle of facilities. We consider the progress of the facilities management industry in implementing Building Information Modeling (BIM) and review the outcomes of a project to use Revit, BIM 360 Field, and Navisworks to manage a new school in London. We also identify further opportunities to integrate BIM data into the delivery of facilities management services to owners and occupiers of facilities.

This class will describe an advanced implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) Solutions at SYSTRA. The BIM manager from SYSTRA will provide an overview of the company and the BIM roadmap deployment strategy. Autodesk Consulting will describe the methodology and the ways in which Autodesk, Inc., and SYSTRA have deployed this methodology on a BIM project. We will examine a project example with the different phases, BIM uses, and key actions.

As the sector heads towards a tipping-point of mass adoption, competing on Building Information Modeling's (BIM) efficiency proposition will no longer deliver advantage in the market. There will be shift in the positioning of BIM within designers and contractors beyond its role as a tool for upholding efficient delivery of projects and towards its role as an enterprise "weapon." Expect to see a move out of the project and into the boardroom. Executives need to be savvy in the underlying business models that exist within the various infrastructure stakeholders and begin to articulate the benefits of BIM as it affects core key performance indicators (KPI), cash-flow, margin, brand, and other business factors.

This class introduces some advanced Inventor® software iLogic techniques. We start with a quick overview of what encapsulation means in the programming world and explain how it can benefit us when using iLogic. Our 3 main areas of focus are subroutines, functions, and .dll libraries. In this class, we build an example model that uses all 3 of our focus areas. By building this model, attendees can see how beneficial reusable code can be and that it can be used in their current workflows. We also show how these tools can be incorporated into templates so that the same code can be used over and over again. This class gets into basic programming techniques. It is assumed that attendees have knowledge of basic iLogic functionality. Prior programming experience with a .NET language is helpful but not required.

We will discuss a design-build project to show our Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflow and the best available tools to address the project's specific needs. We'll start with what to include in contract and execution plan to set the project on the path to success, such as level of development (LOD), scope of work, deliverables, and schedule. Then, we'll cover tools-including software platform, virtual reality, and drones-for the best application during design and construction phases to reduce project cost and improve efficiency.

Using real-life examples, we will demonstrate how complex projects and their demanding schedules be improved from the use of Autodesk Building Design Suite. The class will cover a Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflow from the very beginning of the design and construction process. We will discuss how early decisions have a lasting impact on the building’s performance and lifecycle cost, explore the process of program development and client engagement using advanced visualization techniques, and finally, delve into the process of document production and coordination. This BIM-enabled workflow determines a team’s ability to collaborate and deliver a product that will exceed the client’s expectations.

With Building Information Modeling (BIM), data now has the means to coalesce, become information, and be analyzed as never before. Data granularity and its volume achieved around BIM open the doors for the creation of a Google-like virtual model-based browser for the built environment. We utilize the combined design, construction, and operation know-how of TAV Construction and TAV Airports, based on innovative tools and technologies created for the built environment industry. Based on the success of the BIM-FM integration at the Medina Airport, we are expanding the use of BIM as a means to improve the operations of their investments. This effort has become a case study for us and for the industry in which several challenges have been addressed, opening the way for future possibilities. Using BIM as a platform to integrate existing digital infrastructure-such as computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and BMS/BAS software-enables better analytics, performance for operations, energy management, sustainability, business, and more.

This class will focus on the acronym CREW, which has four keys areas of bringing BIM (Building Information Modeling) and virtual design and construction (VDC) to the field teams. BIM/VDC has been established with our teams in the jobsite trailers, but getting it to the people in the field has always been a struggle. We’ll focus on what’s been helpful for our teams so that you can use the same lessons with your teams. The four areas of CREW are the following: collaborate, research, engage, and work. Taking from what we’ve learned in our process, we’ll go through the different steps, discuss the pieces that usually get missed, and expand on the areas that were helpful and successful. Join me so that all of our field teams can step into fully embracing how BIM/VDC can improve their lives and help them be more successful.

When adopting Building Information Modeling (BIM), the longest slog is creating the family files that you'll need to generate your designs productively. But there's already so much great content out there on building product suppliers' websites-couldn't you just use that? We all know that it's not that simple. Manufacturing models are not only far more complicated than we require for BIM: they rarely contain the data we need. So how can building product manufacturers, suppliers, and specifiers work together more closely to share data in ways that benefit all parties? In this presentation, we'll tell the stories of customers who've taken on the challenge. We'll look at the problems they've faced and the solutions they've implemented, and we'll discuss the merits of each. The challenges of sharing data with the right amount of detail at the right time are by no means solved. We're interested in your views on this subject, and we look forward to some lively debate!

In this class, you’ll discover a set of high-end effective tools to optimize, design, and detail RC shear walls and slabs within a BIM platform such as Revit software. You’ll discover firsthand how to store seismic results and theoretical reinforcement values in Revit and use them to design and detail shear walls and groups of shear walls, optimize the fabrics distribution over an entire slab, and manage additional bars around openings. After having created and optimized the 3D rebar model based on design-driven rebar cages and reinforcement areas, we’ll go through the detailing part generating corresponding fabrics and rebar schedules, and we’ll see how we can manage the bars splitting to consider fabrication and transportation constrains and generating the final reinforcement drawing.
