Using Autodesk Forge API, manufacturers, engineers, architects and designers will learn how to build a collaborative ecosystem to address the lighting design process/industry efficiently. This class focuses on interior design lighting and deeply analyzes its settings to prototype an automated system that understands the photometric light preferences, and compute the level of lighting and proper structure to select the suitable options set. Our class will show how we can enhance the BIM collaboration level and tackle how Generative Design can support manufacturers to produce more efficient luminaries with less resources, energy and time. We will learn how to integrate IES files with any rendering software to achieve accurate visuals that can be adjusted and updated at real time. Using Forge design automation API, the chosen design will be automatically translated into BIM data from which we can generate electrical plans and simultaneously calculate the amount of light fixtures.

InfraWorks software ships with a basic selection of 3D assets for populating your models. In this class we will learn effective ways of preparing your own 3D models using applications such as 3ds Max software and Trimble’s SketchUp modeling program. From here we will dive into InfraWorks software and learn how to import your custom assets, arrange them into libraries, and export them for use by other user. We will also demonstrate some effective techniques for using roadways and 3D models to create custom road and rail corridors in InfraWorks software.

This course illustrates key new features and tools with AutoCAD Civil 3D 2016 software, InfraWorks 360 software, and Vehicle Tracking software. We will put on display data collaboration between software for Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows. Beginning with a preliminary design, in this class we will create, analyze, and edit design features such as roads, roundabouts, and bridges while collaborating with AutoCAD Civil 3D 2016 software. At the end of our lecture we will share our final design models to the cloud to be accessed by Autodesk 360 cloud-computing platform and InfraWorks 360 software web viewer. In addition, we will also animate our final design into a video presentation with 3ds Max Design software.

Behind every great immersive technology experience is a team that spent way too much time destructively preparing their projects for augmented or virtual reality. Well, my friend, come and find out how you can save (gobs of) time by automating common data preparation tasks in 2 ways. First, we'll look at automatically preparing Revit files and Navisworks files in a local 3ds Max environment. In the second part of the class, we'll look at how to use Forge Design Automation Services to automatically prepare data from BIM 360 software.

In this class, we will cover how to accelerate the transition to connected BIM (Building Information Modeling) for infrastructure with improved efficiency and project approvals through an end-to end design approach using InfraWorks software as the aggregator and design data visualizer. We will walk through one of our road projects and demonstrate the data collection solution we’re using in our data flow solution. Our techniques and workflow include high-end existing modeling conditions, road design representations in InfraWorks combined with built-in road and bridge design tools, ArcGIS Data collection and presentation in InfraWorks, Ramboll Risk Management data representation in InfraWorks, BIM 360 as collaboration tool for InfraWorks, InfraWorks data flow for 3ds Max software or Forge in the future, advanced visualization—virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR)—and more. In this class, you will learn how Civil 3D software and 3ds Max software are used in conjunction to develop roadway animations and photo simulations. We will go through how corridors are made and how they are brought into 3ds Max for finishing work using Civil View in 3ds Max.

Intended for intermediate to advanced AutoCAD Civil 3D software users, this class is designed to show land development professionals techniques and nuances for creating renderings and movies of their proposed projects. Utilizing many of the programs provided in Infrastructure Design Suite software (AutoCAD Civil 3D software, InfraWorks software, Revit software, and 3ds Max software), this class will consist of a live demonstration showing how to create compelling and grade accurate visualizations of your site designs. By treating InfraWorks 360 software as a “level builder” we will explore how to composite existing and proposed ground surfaces, build and apply coverages for pavement and pavement markings, and prepare tree surveys for 3D placement. Finally, we will explore the use of InfraWorks software models in real-time game rendering engines. By capitalizing on real-time engines, we can shortcut long rendering times to create accurate visualizations quickly.

It's not enough to know how to create great 3D renderings. You have to make images that really sell, and to do that you need the knowledge of a photographer to really sell your renderings. This class introduces worthy architectural photography principles and shows you how to apply them to 3D renderings. You learn how to translate good image composition, lighting, and staging to your renderings. This class also discusses photographic phenomena such as vignetting, barrel distortion, and glare, and explains how to fine-tune these photographic flaws to your advantage to create compelling visualization that really sells.

Learn how to customize InfraWorks software. This class will be all about creating your own content in InfraWorks so it matches your project requirements and company standards. After the end of this class, you will be able to create your own design standards file for road design and intersection/roundabout creation. You will learn how to create customized styles and elements for your sketch/design/component roads, and we'll review the workflow for importing custom content in your style palette, such as 3D objects-static or animated-and materials. At the end of the session, we'll go through the steps you have to follow to share this custom content and Road Design Standards with your team.

Adding vehicles to any large-scale highway or roadway visualization animations can be a daunting and laborious task. Representing accurate traffic patterns and vehicle movements would often be impossible without hand-animating hundreds or thousands of cars (not usually a viable solution). Using VISSIM traffic data and 3ds Max Civil View extension, it’s possible to automate much of the process, as well as to have an accurate and visually correct simulation that’s easy to update as changes to the model or traffic data occur. This class will cover the basic steps of integrating the traffic data; provide some tips and tricks for the vehicles; and pass on efficient workflows for animating, rendering, and revising during the lifecycle of a project.
