In this class you will learn about the facets of AutoCAD Plant 3D software in Vault software. We will cover the features that Vault software has to offer an AutoCAD Plant 3D project or an AutoCAD P&ID project. Specifically we will look at Replication, Lifecycles, Categories, and Attribute Mapping. We will cover the process of creating a new AutoCAD Plant 3D project or an AutoCAD P&ID project and migrating it to Vault software. Then we will look at the migration of an existing AutoCAD Plant 3D project or an AutoCAD P&ID project to Vault software. We will also examine in detail how to manage Data Manager outputs in Vault software. We will cover the specific rules around utilizing Vault software for your project, and we'll also cover the environmental settings and workflow systems you should consider before attempting your project in Vault software. An AutoCAD Plant 3D project or an AutoCAD P&ID project in Vault software should be an exciting and positive experience for the extended design team. As a result, many users are not getting the full performance and productivity out of AutoCAD that they could be. We will explore how you can apply the fundamental principles of good software design in the context of AutoCAD software. We will examine typical problems found when using the AutoCAD API and identify common patterns that you can simplify to eliminate duplicate code. AutoCAD is coming to the web browser and mobile platforms (Project Fabric). This creates new developer opportunities. The class will describe Project Fabric and the kind of 3rd party applications it enables on the web, ios, android and uwp. (Joint AU/Forge DevCon class).

This intermediate-to-advanced hands-on lab offers AutoCAD 3D software veterans and 2D users a chance to explore 2D model documentation of 3D models from AutoCAD 2015 software and Inventor 2015 software. Create base views and projected views from 3D models. Learn to edit the 3D models, update the derived drawing views, add dimensions to the drawing views, and modify the 3D model to update the dimensions. Are commands such as Flatshot, Solview, Soldraw, and Solproj superseded? Come find out. In this class we also explore the EXPORTLAYOUT command for exporting a layout that contains drawing views to model space. In the multiple cultures of the business world of today it has become more important for both published applications and in house applications to be easily used by anyone. Over the past year one of my main tasks has been to localize our projects for multiple cultures. Globalization is designing and developing applications for users in multiple cultures and Localization is the process of customizing data and resources for specific cultures for applications. In this class, we talk about and demonstrate building an AutoCAD® plugin that is localized for multiple cultures. We will create resource files adding strings that are displayed in the application, have commands that are culture aware and setup the user interface including dialogs that handle different cultures. Although this class will be targeted for AutoCAD® applications most of what will be covered applies to any .NET development.

This class will discuss the benefits of the cloud for software developers and look at a concrete example of moving desktop functionality to the cloud. We will look at issues related to the architecture of software destined for the cloud. We will compare commercial cloud offerings such as Amazon Web Services™ and Windows Azure™ and will take an look a several client-side environments for consuming this data, such as AutoCAD® software , Unity 3D, Android™, Apple® iOS, and HTML5.

Over the last decade or so, software developers have amassed a significant amount of intellectual property harnessing AutoCAD software's .NET API. AutoCAD I/O enables standard AutoCAD software commands, as well as those implemented in .NET, to be executed in the cloud, generating results that you can integrate into your own business-to-business or business-to-customer website. This class will take a concrete example of a .NET application creating custom jigsaw puzzles inside AutoCAD software. During the class we will show how to move the core implementation to AutoCAD I/O via the Core Console, and then make use of this to power a new business-to-customer website. Potential customers will be able to specify custom designs for jigsaw puzzles and visualize the results before finalizing their orders.

Windows Universal Platform is redefining product experience on cross-platform devices by blurring the device dependencies, and enabling the user to run the same product across all Windows 10-supported devices. This enabled us to explore new possibilities for AutoCAD software drawing experiences on futuristic devices like HoloLens, Surface Hub, Continuum, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices. In this session, we will showcase our explorations: How AutoCAD software can change the future of making things by breaking boundaries of conventional desktop software. How small devices (Phone with Continuum) are carrying AutoCAD 360 web app and getting transformed to desktop experience just by connecting any size of the display. We’ll cover virtual-reality CAD exploration, where 3D reality mixes with 2D virtual shapes for a fast, powerful, and accurate visualization. CAD standards are a bone of contention for every CAD manager. For me, CAD standards are all about a single thing—productivity. It's all about decision-making. I don't want you spending time deciding what font to use or what lineweight to draw with. Those tasks don’t increase the project’s value. I want you to be able to focus on creating drawings that sell ideas to a client or help make manufacturing quicker and easier. You shouldn't need to worry about CAD standards. In this class I'll take you through the exact steps that I use to create a comprehensive set of tool palettes that deploy our company CAD standards. I'll show you how to deploy your tool palettes on the network, and how to update them from a central file. We will push as hard as we can into deploying scripts and macros from tool palettes, and cover some of the tips and hacks of tool palettes that you won't find in the help file.

AutoCAD Web (https://web.autocad.com) officially launched in March 2018. It’s the culmination of years of work to refactor and port the AutoCAD desktop code for the browser. As a result, AutoCAD Web shares all the C++ code that is responsible for the core, in-canvas drafting experiences with AutoCAD desktop. This includes the APIs, too. This talk is about the applications and extensions that you can build with AutoCAD Web, and our plans for the future.

You’ve built a 3D model. Now you need to produce 2D drawings. That is the precise purpose for the new model documentation tools in AutoCAD® software. In this class, I will show you how to create annotated orthographic, section, cutaway, and detail views; control their scale and appearance; and ensure that views and annotations update properly if the 3D model changes. I will work with 3D models that are created in AutoCAD and Autodesk® Inventor® software, and other CAD programs and show you how to solve problems such as disassociated annotations. You will see how you can create several sheets of drawings documenting a multi-part assembly. We will cover each tool in detail and develop best practices and time-saving techniques, so that you can tap into the power of model documentation tools in AutoCAD to create your 2D drawings.
