As a building owner or operator, it is necessary to have reliable, organized information to effectively respond to a portfolio's growing space, maintenance, and energy requirements. Unfortunately, most facilities were built prior to the development of Building Information Modeling (BIM), and for the few that do have models, there are often barriers that prevent the retrieval and sharing of this information. This class will discuss the facility datafication process developed by CASE to help owners generate the data they need to optimally manage their buildings. By aligning information technology with operational processes and advanced Revit software techniques, owners and operators are enabled to effectively communicate and collaborate through a model-based Building Information Solution. This course will also discuss the integration of third-party software and customizations to enhance the datafication process, increase informed decision-making, and optimize the performance of a building portfolio.

FM:Systems® Building Information Modeling (BIM) integration software enables architecture, engineering, construction (AEC), and facilities professionals to connect Revit®-based software models to a cloud-based system to help them manage space, plan maintenance, and more. This class explores the opportunity for AEC professionals and building owners and operators to partner on a BIM lifecycle approach to managing facilities. We demonstrate how to create and maintain a live bidirectional integration between Revit software and the FM:BIM cloud-based system. We explore how AEC professionals can work more closely with building owners to develop BIM guidelines, workflows, and methods of integrating Revit models into a full BIM lifecycle. Finally, we discuss setting up a model in Revit, including defining rooms, spaces, and assets and publishing facility plans from Revit into FM:BIM.

In this panel, you'll hear directly from customers implementing digital twins in real-world projects. Each panelist will bring their unique industry experience to cover topics including how digital twins can become a part of an architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) firm’s digital practice, the value digital twins offer to building owner/operators, the requirements driving the need for digital handover, the industry challenges in curating project data for digital handover, and how these firms are using Autodesk Tandem to overcome these challenges.

According to GRESB's 2022 data (the global ESG benchmark for real-estate financial products), 2025 is the estimated average expiration date for the market attractiveness of offices worldwide in terms of meeting CRREM (Carbon Risk Real Estate Monitor) energy efficiency standards. In other words, as we move toward net-zero emissions by 2050, the market value of a building that does not achieve the required energy efficiency rating is likely to decrease. It's vital the building sector adopts circular economy principles, moving away from the linear "take, make, dispose" model toward a more sustainable and regenerative approach that prioritizes resource efficiency, reuse, and recycling. Digital twins support the operational phase of a building and develop into digital logbooks, which is crucial at end of life because its help ensure safe and sustainable decommissioning/repurposing, preserves valuable information, and supports compliance with regulations and standards.

Autodesk Research has been working on the display of building performance data in a rich 3D environment since 2009. During the last 2 years this development effort has shifted to make heavy use of the Forge platform to integrate the display of sensor data with high-quality, as-built BIM. The project has also evolved beyond the initial focus on building performance to explore use-cases in construction and factory management. This session looks at some of the lessons Autodesk Research has learned during the development of Dasher 360, with a particular focus on the benefits found from using the Forge platform to reinvent a heavyweight desktop client for the cloud. We will talk about how tools such as Dasher 360 can integrate data from a variety of sources, creating compelling, web-based tools that dramatically expand the use of design data. While the session will focus largely on the development of Dasher 360, and therefore be of interest to programmers and software development managers' it will highlight how Forge has been used alongside advanced data visualisation techniques to create a tool for facilities managers and building owners/operators. People from various backgrounds will therefore find the session to be of interest.

The profound shift toward flexible work in recent years has significantly changed the way we use buildings. Owners and operators are under immense pressure to support the core business and achieve sustainability targets while keeping costs down, but most lack the big-picture utilization data they need to inform short- and long-term portfolio planning. Using proprietary worktech data, we've analyzed global trends in workspace and physical asset use over the past several quarters to identify emerging patterns in operations and occupant behaviors. The analysis uncovers four preeminent tensions businesses are navigating in today's workplaces. Session participants will learn what changes are occurring across three core regions (Americas, EMEA, and APAC), and how organizations are leveraging this information alongside dynamic building models to meet goals at all phases of the building life cycle.

For a facility manager and building owner, the information embedded in a Revit software / Building Information Modeling (BIM) model represents the most tangible connection to the collective knowledge gained by the Design Team, the constructor, and past operators of a facility. However, the technology, change, and confusion surrounding BIM in the facility management (FM) industry is making it very difficult for a facility manager to navigate. The panel—led by facilities and FM technology experts from IFMA's Information Technology Council—will lead the audience through the BIM value proposition for owners and provide tools for assessing if BIM is the correct tool for their specific operations. This will include a discussion about why BIM, at this point in time, may not be the correct solution. Separately, for those who are ready for BIM, we will discuss how to adequately specify the needs of an organization related to BIM. For some, this may include developing a roadmap toward BIM aspirations.

This class will showcase what is possible when linking information from building automation systems with BIM 360 Ops software to automate building events. We will demonstrate how Autodesk's CREFTS (Corporate Real Estate, Facilities, Travel, Safety, and Security) Team has linked systems to trigger tickets within BIM 360 Ops, providing quick notification to facilities operators of system events within their facility, resulting in proactive management of building events.

Buzzwords like sustainability and collaboration get thrown around excessively in the building industry. This class will be discussing holistic-atruistic design representing the balance between sustainability, cost, and function. In addition to building trends, we will focus on analytics, communication and documentation tools, and deliverables impacting the entire lifecycle of a project. The class will focus on new technologies informing design, analyzing patterns of use and leveraging technology to automate controls and optimize building operation. Holistic-altruistic building practices can be achieved by leveraging human-centered design theories. We will explore this topic in addition to case studies of existing firms that are able to implement these theories into practice.

What use would a tire company have for construction management software? We had to ask ourselves that same question at first. Unlike most who work in Autodesk Construction Cloud, we aren't paying our bills through the construction of buildings; we're investing in the buildings. We manage the entire project lifecycle of our facilities from conception to operations. Tires are our product, but we need a place to build those tires. We need to maintain that facility, manage our assets, and, most importantly, we need to transform our manufacturing footprint. All of these things need to happen, all while product continues to flow out the door. We produce tires despite the building process, we don't build despite the production of our products. We hope to share a different perspective of how an owner and operator takes advantage of Autodesk Construction Cloud and the rest of Autodesk's portfolio to make a successful process.

The challenges for an owner-operator of one of the world's busiest airports are tremendous, involving multiple disciplines, sectors, and business functions. This class looks at the solutions, products, and workflows delivered in key areas—including aircraft tracking, stands management, a works approval interface, asset management integration, and supply chain model management—during a recent engagement at Heathrow Airport, London. We demonstrate how the solution, which was designed for mobile devices including Apple® iPads®, allows Heathrow access to Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other key business data in the field. It also links the aircraft and stands status to infrastructure and asset information from IBM® Maximo® and a works approval solution. From incident handling and airline management to regulatory reports and business workflows, we show how the complexities of managing airport systems can be as demanding as a running a mini-city.

As a new player in the electric vehicle market, Rivian Automotive needs to move fast. In addition to building a new product line of electrics trucks, SUVs and delivery vans they need to build the facilities infrastructure to support. This includes an array of new office space TIs, service centers, factory additions, charging and new retail spaces. To accomplish this goal Rivian used the ACC platform to collaborate with all design and construction partners and internal stakeholders. By running all projects on one common data platform it provides our project teams with an invaluable data set as an owner and operator, creating new opportunities to optimize project delivery. This class provides must-have knowledge for management-level facility owners, operators, contractors, architects, and consultants seeking objective methods to inform decisions as well as evaluate and optimize the success of Building Information Modeling (BIM) implementation for projects and enterprises. The class covers the bimSCORE evaluation framework developed at Stanford University Center for Integrated Facility Engineering (CIFE). We will discuss original methods developed to establish realistic goals, benchmark to global best practices, select scenarios for BIM investment, track progress, and calculate ROI. We will demonstrate scientific methods you can use to report on maturity of BIM implementations and compare results with other current projects around the world, using metrics to inform investment decisions and drive improvement. Special emphasis will be placed on the importance of ongoing evaluation and performance tracking to maximize BIM value throughout project lifecycles.

Buildings are responsible for roughly 37% of worldwide global carbon emissions. Decarbonizing our built environment requires tools for setting achievable targets, defining clear strategies, and determining cost-optimal pathways for achievement. To support these developing needs, new tools and opportunities for design services are emerging for developing "building specific” pathways, guiding investments toward electrification. Using customized Revit Systems Analysis- based workflows, Revit users can collaborate with building owners and other stakeholders to create new value streams by capitalizing on information stored within Revit and enabling design with energy and carbon analysis as part of an integrated building information modeling (BIM) workflow. These features allow Revit users to apply "standardized” methods to Revit projects for rapidly and consistently analyzing the energy and carbon (and associated cost) impacts of electrifying HVAC and SHW infrastructure. Impacts of electric tariffs can also be evaluated.

In this class, we will discuss recent Autodesk Consulting projects with a focus on two new utilities that we are using to help customers. First, we will present the functionality of the COBie (Construction Operations Building Information Exchange) Toolkit for Autodesk® Revit® software. COBie is a United States-originated data standard for exchange of building systems information between designers, construction firms, and building owners. The format for delivering construction handover data is a predefined spreadsheet file with specific worksheets, many of which can be populated directly from a Revit intelligent model. The standard has recently been adopted by the United Kingdom and tested on pilot projects using the evolving Revit COBie Toolkit. Next, we will discuss BIM Coordinator. This technology preview, available from Autodesk Labs, assists project team members with building and site grids in Revit and AutoCAD® Civil 3D® software to effectively organize the project data in shared or related coordinates. This utility is essential for spatial collaboration across disciplines.
