This class shows you how to use InfraWorks software to create highly realistic and accurate context models for civil infrastructure projects that support a more efficient, productive, and collaborative design workflow. The class shows how to aggregate a variety of data sources in InfraWorks such as geospatial information, LiDAR data using ReCap software, design data from AutoCAD® Civil 3D® software, and 3D models from Revit® and 3ds Max® software. Use ReCap to preprocess LiDAR data for other Autodesk applications. The class shows several real-world infrastructure projects where InfraWorks was used to support design and communication.

As a part of the Infrastructure Design Suite PowerTrack, this class will highlight geospatial, surveying, and other data collection methods as well as design tools using Autodesk® Infrastructure Modeler, AutoCAD® Map 3D, AutoCAD®Civil 3D®, and Autodesk® Storm and Sanitary Analysis software. As an Autodesk strategic partner, Fugro developed GeoDin Ground app for Civil 3D software to transform infrastructure design by providing designers and civil engineers with contextual and comprehensive ground data through an integration with GeoDin, a leading geotechnical data management, analysis, and reporting software. The GeoDin Ground app allows designers to see into the ground. How does this work exactly? We’ll show and teach you all the major insights in this session. We’ll import geotechnical data directly into Civil 3D, visualize boreholes, and create surfaces and volumes with GeoDin Ground. Finally, we’ll analyze geotechnical data between surfaces and create volume reports. And we’ll demonstrate the benefits of visualizing and analyzing infrastructure in combination with ground layers. During this class the participants will learn about the Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes designed and implemented by Egis Group for highways and road design. The class will focus on the standardization of design and collaboration in infrastructure projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D software. Through relevant projects examples (highways, airports), the participants will discover how to deploy a collaborative standardization on the AutoCAD Civil 3D software platform. The participants will also learn how to manage standardization for multidisciplinary applications such as roads, bridges, airports, and so on. In addition they will learn how to manage AutoCAD Civil 3D software to integrate different requirements such as a company’s own production rules, local or international design standards, and customer requirements—such as personalized outputs. In this class, we will focus on a project-specific journey and see how the age-old profession of civil engineering uses the capabilities of Civil 3D to meet these unique demands.

InfoWorks ICM assists engineers and designers in understanding the impacts projects have on the environment. Extreme events continue to stress local and regional civil infrastructure, and our tools and techniques must change as we design projects in our communities. InfoWorks ICM enables team collaboration and empowers engineers to reach beyond single-purpose tools to evaluate various options against a multitude of rainfall events within the context of the entire watershed. This technical instruction class will help users through a number of considerations to preserve Civil 3D designs in evaluation of possible flood damages across the wide range of flood scenarios.

In this class, we’ll demonstrate how to use automation for transportation, land development, and pipe networks workflows in Civil 3D software through Dynamo and Python. The class will introduce Dynamo for Civil 3D capabilities, focusing on the implementation of computational design for infrastructures. We will cover how to expand the possible workflows through Python scripting to use the AutoCAD and Civil 3D APIs.

Local governments are gradually more involved with 3D infrastructure designs: On one hand, they’re managing their existing infrastructure—like storm/sanitary sewers and aqueducts networks—through georeferenced databases. On the other hand, they’re designing their proposed infrastructures through Civil 3D objects. Civil 3D software never had a perfect fit to connect with geographic information system (GIS) data, from recreating existing 3D infrastructures to better connecting them with proposed designs. Then Dynamo came into the picture! This presentation will cover efficient workflows using Dynamo for Civil 3D, mapping electric utility GIS data to automatically create Civil 3D pipe network objects using a custom pipe catalog. We will also cover attribute transfers involving both object data and property sets.

This class discusses the results of an Advanced Infrastructure Analysis Technology assessment recently conducted by Autodesk Consulting for a major electric and gas utility that has over 15 million customers. A key focus of the engagement was the evaluation of emerging mobile and visualization technologies of potential benefit to the client's gas transmission and distribution network operations for both the short-term and long-term replacement of current mobile solutions. In this class, we demonstrate a number of Autodesk products, including InfraWorks civil infrastructure design software, ReCap™ reality capture software, and Autodesk® PLM 360 cloud-based product lifecycle management software. We highlight current advances in emerging technologies, including reality capture and augmented reality. This class will explore the workflows for dealing with storm and sanitary networks using Autodesk® Infrastructure Design Suite—from the planning phases in AutoCAD® Map 3D and AutoCAD® Civil 3D® software, the conceptual visualization in Autodesk® Infrastructure Modeler software, design in AutoCAD Civil 3D, and finally virtual construction in Autodesk® Navisworks® software. We will work our way through each product, covering basic introductions, file formats, import and export, and how to work with the objects in each format.

Intended for intermediate to advanced AutoCAD Civil 3D software users, this class is designed to show land development professionals techniques and nuances for creating renderings and movies of their proposed projects. Utilizing many of the programs provided in Infrastructure Design Suite software (AutoCAD Civil 3D software, InfraWorks software, Revit software, and 3ds Max software), this class will consist of a live demonstration showing how to create compelling and grade accurate visualizations of your site designs. By treating InfraWorks 360 software as a “level builder” we will explore how to composite existing and proposed ground surfaces, build and apply coverages for pavement and pavement markings, and prepare tree surveys for 3D placement. Finally, we will explore the use of InfraWorks software models in real-time game rendering engines. By capitalizing on real-time engines, we can shortcut long rendering times to create accurate visualizations quickly.
