The BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (BC MoTI) plans transportation networks and provides transportation services and infrastructure for the Province of British Columbia. BC MoTI has transitioned from CAiCE and is now using Civil 3D software for consultant and in-house survey, design, and construction administration workflows. This class will detail the entire Civil 3D implementation process, including a BIM (Building Information Modeling)-based approach for the development of workflows and data handoffs, CAD standardization, subassembly and application customization, training and information dissemination, continued support, and documentation. The end product is a Civil 3D terms-of-reference document that describes all of the requirements for using Civil 3D for survey, design, and construction administration tasks, and is applicable to both Ministry staff and private sector consultants.

This session is a high-level strategy road map of how companies with a large project portfolio can use Autodesk Construction Cloud to take pragmatic steps within the Autodesk Construction Cloud user interface to benefit both in the short term and long term. We'll use real-world examples using Amazon Transportation Engineering Services (TES) as a case study. We'll work through the practical planning of using cornerstone Autodesk Construction Cloud features such as Issues and Forms, and we'll look at how building on the use of these features can lead to powerful QuickSight dashboards, and, later, robust machine learning. The presentation will cover the 4D management of hundreds of machine installations, each with various stages of preparation work required. Previously the workflow involved comparing 2D AutoCAD layouts to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. First, we'll define the prerequisites of having a Factory Design Utilities layout, where the machines are individually laid out in 3D. The layout will then be imported into Navisworks software and prepared for the TimeLiner function. Then, we'll export a schedule as a .CSV with all the necessary details. Next, we'll import the file into Navisworks for the TimeLiner function. We'll show the process of making links, and explain all other necessary setup parameters. We'll run the sim, and export the viewport into a .PPT for distribution. In closing, you'll see an update to the original layout which then reflects in the end results. And we'll even include a change in schedule, to emulate logistical issues. The workflow helps with collaborative agile planning.
